Item: Hitachi 42PD5200
This TV has a know fault with the PSU, like other Hitachi's of this vintage. One of the resistors is under spec and dies after 2-4 years. Having said that it is easy fix, costs about 50p from Maplins! Otherwise it is a good looking TV. If you use sky, but not HD then the picture is not good closer than 8ft, but this is down to the signal quality, not the TV. Put HD or a DVD and it still compares very well to the latest gear. ...

Item: Hitachi 42PD3000
Have had this telly now for 6years and it is still going strong.
Was the best unit at the time (spent weeks comparing) and now that I can output 1080i from the vga port it is as good if not better than most HD TV's I have

Item: Hitachi HDR081
Easy to set up and use
Good looking
Good picture quality
Can only record one channel at a time (can watch another at the same time however)
Tuning to ITV and Channel 4 seems flaky, cannot get either at present, even with new digital aerial.
Cheap
This is based on my experience and is an accurate representation. I do not recommend the Hitachi ...

Not knowing much about LCD TV's... I unfortunately went for a known name. A big mistake... this TV must be one of the worst ever made!
Stick to Panasonic or Sony.... I wish I had!

Item: Hitachi L37V01U
The Hitachi L37V01U is my first LCD TV. The picture is brilliant, i paid £449 from Richer Sounds and i am very pleased, it is full HD 1920 x 1080p, has x2 HDMI and all the other connections you will need, i have my pc plugged in through hdmi @ 1920 x 1080p the picture is brilliant for playing WoW and searching the web. The remote is great, no problems also the IDTV is instant (now or next or 7 day) (unlike my old freeview box).
Easy connection to my Creative Inspire 5.1 surround ...
