Item: Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice
Pride and prejudice is so ahead of the time that Jane Austen lived in, and it reflects greatly on feminism. Not only is it a wonderful love story, it's an inspirational story to all women to stand up for yourself and what you believe

Item: Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey (Penguin Popular Classics)
This book is, in my eyes, Jane Austen's best. I love Catherine Morland as a shy, sweet, naive young lady just being thrown into the real world. Her fevered imagination, which often gets her into trouble, his somehting any bookworm can relate to. She is always looking for the good in others, although this often leaves her vulnerable. Her relationship with Mr. Tilney also reflects Austen's youthful mind when writing this--complete infatuation that leaves Miss Morland flustered and delighted. Mr. ...

Elizabeth Bennet is a sensible woman who sticks to her principles no matter what. She refuses Mr. Collins and Mr. Darcy's offers of marriage even though Mrs. Bennet only wants her five daughters, including Elizabeth, to marry rich men. The reason for refusing both? Simple: She doesn't like either one of them and does not think either of them to be suitable ...

Item: Jane Austen, Persuasion (Penguin Popular Classics)
Persuasion was written by Jane Austen in the latter months of her short life. This was most likely the reason why Anne Elliot's character is the way it is, which is so very different from Ms. Austen's other, more lively heroines. Anne is a young woman of perfect breeding, integrity and maturity in spite of being born to a bankrupt but proud family. The family, to settle their financial problems discreetly, relocated to Bath and let their country estate to an admiral and his wife. ...

Pride and prejudice is so ahead of the time that Jane Austen lived in, and it reflects greatly on feminism. Not only is it a wonderful love story, it's an inspirational story to all women to stand up for yourself and what you believe in. This book was so good I read it in two days. The first time I read it was in sixth grade, and I have just recently re-read it, and it was just as good, if not better than the first ...
